As a Spanish teacher providing Spanish lessons in Toronto, I always want to find more opportunities for my students and people interested in our vast culture, to find ways to get to know more about us. I wish to become a connection with the great people who are out there representing us, raising our flags and delivering great art. So people interested in Spanish culture here in Canada, will be able to have access.
Big part of our Hispanic culture and heritage is music. We own a giant range of different musical styles that cover a large territory from Mexico to Argentina and Spain.
No matter what language we speak, music always unites us. We are lucky to live in Toronto, a city that shines because of its multiculturalism. I want to take this opportunity to introduce the amazing Latin musicians that we have in this city.
Marieva Davila
She is a pianist, composer, and flamenco dancer. She was born in Caracas, she grew up in the daily life of the artistic environment of her house, where the piano was the heart of her games. She began studying music at three years of age with Prof. María Luisa Stopello at the Dalcroze Rhythmic School. At age 5 she composed her first songs and was registered in the Society of Authors and Composers of Venezuela (SACVEN). She graduated as “Piano Performer” under the tutelage of Professor María Auxiliadora Díaz at the Lino Gallardo Music Conservatory (2010), and modern harmony, composition and improvisation with the maestro Gerry Weil. She has been studying flamenco for many years and her passion for this art is reflected in her compositions.
