Viento Sur es un grupo musical de Toronto que busca difundir y mostrar la música popular y tradicional de Chile. Su objetivo principal es dar a conocer a sus grandes compositores chilenos, así como también los distintos estilos musicales de su largo y vasto país. Todo esto con un toque moderno que le da un aire único y particular, que cautiva los gustos de todos. Actualmente. la banda cuenta con 8 músicos que brillan por su diversidad en el toque de sus instrumentos chilenos tradicionales. Entre ellos están, el charango, silkus, la guitarra, el acordeón y mi favorito la flauta “kena” del Altiplano, la cual tiene su origen indígena, de los países Bolivia, Perú, Chile, también en el norte de Argentina y Ecuador.
Viento Sur is a musical band based in Toronto, which plays songs from the most well-known Chilean artists, as well as its traditional music. The musical arrangements they put together, combines folk music with comtemporanean rhythms, making them especial and unique. Currently, they have eight musicians, who bring diversity, playing the traditional Chilean instruments, They have charango, guitar, accordion, silkus and my favourite on “the kena flute”, originally from the indigenous people from the Altiplano (Spanish high plain), from Bolivia, Peru, Chile and the north of Ecuador and Argentina.
