I’m a Spanish teacher, based in Toronto, but I also considered myself an ambassador of Spanish culture in Canada. I would like to introduce an amazing Chilean artist, Luis Ramirez, who lives in Toronto and has captivated me with his art. A great opportunity to keep understanding how wide our culture is.
His art exhibition is at Columbus Centre in Toronto till Aug 16 (free admission). It connects us with the world we live in, enjoying, understanding and appreciating, no matter where we come from.
SAVE THE NATURE
It’s the title of the exhibition of paintings by the artist Luis RAMIREZ. It marks the best occasion to celebrate his 50 years of professional artistic career. The exhibition includes the latest works painted by him, in the last three years. It started during the COVID lockdown. As the artist said “ The pandemia didn’t make me crazy, sick, bored, nor did I die. On the contrary, I kept painting and painting”.
In these paintings we can appreciate the maturity in his art, with a new approach and perspective, leaving aside perfect techniques and really giving relevance to the feeling, sensitivity and the need to make us realize the interaction we have of the nature that surround us.
“Once again Luis Ramirez raises his voice in defense of Nature, emphasizing the damage that man has done, is doing and will continue to do to, directly affecting the ecosystem in flora and fauna: with its ambition and greed where economics prevall. It destroys nature with the extermination of exotic wild animals. With its deforestation and indiscriminate felling of trees; polluting rivers with its mining, privatizing water, trawling and suction fishing, etc.
SALVEMOS LA NATURALEZA
:”Es el título de esta exhibición de pintura del artista Luis Ramirez. En esta ocasión, coincide con la celebración de sus 50 años de trayectoria artística profesional. La muestra recoge las últimas obras terminadas en estos tres últimos años. En esta oportunidad, Luis nos deja entrever su madurez en el arte, con un nuevo enfoque o perspectiva, dejando de lado la perfección en el dibujo y en la pincelada, dándole realmente importancia al sentimiento, a la sensibilidad… Una vez más Luis Ramírez eleva su voz en defensa de la naturaleza, haciendo énfasis en el daño que el hombre ha hecho, hace y seguirá haciendo en ella, afectando directamente el ecosistema en la flora y la fauna: con su ambición, avaricia donde prima lo económico…va destruyéndola con el exterminio de animales salvajes, con sus de-forestaciones y tala indiscriminada de árboles, contaminando los ríos con sus minerías, privatizando el agua, etc”
